COAST FORK CHRONICLES – Mark your calendars for September 24-25! Here at Coast Fork and the Brewstation, we’re partial to celebrations that center around culinary delights, tasty foods and delicious beers. And while Oktoberfest, the world’s biggest beer festival, has been cancelled in Munich, Germany this year, we’re thrilled to welcome the return of our own Oktoberfest here on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25. That’s right – despite its name, Oktoberfest starts in September, a tradition we’ll continue.
The celebration will contain many of the ingredients you know, love and have come to expect from Oktoberfest, including unforgettable German-style beers, brats and sauerkraut. Beers from German stalwart brewery Ayinger Privatbrauerei will be on tap, and an Oktoberfest brew from Hood River-based pFriem Family Brewers is sure to satisfy. We’ll also feature Coast Fork Brewing’s own Alt Hallows Altbier and London Springs Lager, a classic Munich-style Helles.
Cottage Grove favorites the Huckleberrys will have the crowd swinging on Friday. The first official weekend of autumn will be one to remember here, so don’t miss it!
Events Line Up:
LIVE MUSIC: Friday night at 6:30pm, The Huckleberrys will kick off the party with some live blues and bluegrass music, perfect for dancing to in your lederhosen or dirndl — and YES, we do encourage you to dress in your Oktoberfest Best! (Though if you can’t, we understand, and that’s fine too.)
Special Draft Beer Selection: We will have some special beers on tap for the celebration and those will include German beers (Ayinger) and Bavarian-style local beers (we’ve got one lined up from pFriem in Hood River). We’ll also have our very own London Springs Lager on tap, and a special batch of our seasonal Alt Hallows bier. (Don’t forget, we can do Oktoberfest crowler specials so you can take Oktoberfest home with you, if you can’t stay and party with us, or if you just can’t get enough of us before last call!)
Food Special: It’s Oktoberfest, so the menu will include brats & kraut. How could we go without?
Fun & Prizes: Saturday’s fun and events start out with the “Less Than Gourd-geous Gourd (or Other Vegetable)” competition! Bring your otherworldly looking gourd, pumpkin or other vegetable down to the feed store between 10am and 4pm on Saturday the 25th for a chance to win fabulous prizes! (Doesn’t have to be home grown–if you find a really cool one at the store or are given one by your neighbor with mad gardening skills, that would make a fine entry!) 1st place wins a $25 gift certificate, 2nd place wins a $15 gift certificate, 3rd place wins a $10 gift certificate… and you also have a chance at the honor of best in show! Judging will begin at 5pm — you don’t have to be present to win, but it will be fun, so why not join us?!
Shopping Specials, Surprises & Treats: We’ll have specials and great deals on harvest related items in the feed store on Saturday, plus you’re likely to find other treats and surprises in the store! Look around for other local vendors outside and visit our neighbors while you’re here, as well!
More live music! We’ll have live music on Saturday as well, for your listening and dancing pleasure.
There will be a lot going on, so make plans to join us this weekend for Oktoberfest at Coast Fork Brewing and Feed Store! See you there.
Prost!
