Occasionally we get questions about mushroom growing, and in some instances we do have what people are looking for, even though we don’t specialize in mushroom growing. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions that we get about mushrooms:
Do you sell mushroom growing substrate?
We do sell whole wheat, which is often used by growers as a substrate for shiitakes and some other varieties. (We do always have that in stock in our home brewing supplies section, because it’s also great food for yeast — after all, yeast are also little fungi!) We don’t sell other substrates often, but if you get in touch with us, we may be able to order some for you or find a source to refer you to.
Do you ever carry any mushroom growing kits or inoculated logs or trees?
Nope, but you’ll usually find some good ones at Territorial Seed, just across town!
Do you have any mushroom growing books or resources?
We have a lot of gardening, home brewing and other do-it-yourself books on our shelves, but we don’t currently have any books dedicated specifically to mushroom growing. If you know of any, please let us know!
