BMD Moves Downtown, and We’re All Over It!
Bohemia Mining Days is happening DOWNTOWN this year? Hey, downtown’s our favorite place!
We missed a great many wonderful gatherings in 2020, and the return of Cottage Grove’s signature event this year has us itchin’ to make new memories. Imagine our delight, then, to hear that tomorrow and Sunday (July 17-18) Bohemia Mining Days will happen right here in our own backyard!
Forced to take sides in a playful reenactment of Cottage Grove’s legendary Feud, we’ll be representing Lemati against those dastardly folks from Slabtown. On Saturday morning, you’ll see us proudly atop the Lemati Saloon float, a 35-foot behemoth pulled by our friends Bill and Sharon Hoyt. It’ll also feature some fantastic period pieces on loan from Five Flying Monkeys.
After the parade, when the festival officially opens downtown, we’ll be serving drinks and vittles as the Lemati Town Hall. We’ll continue to have our famous Golddigger sandwich on offer – a summer sensation featuring roast beef, salami, pepperoni and provolone — throughout the weekend.
We can’t wait to show off our ore cart for this year’s inaugural Ore Cart Races, and you may recognize an extra special guest conductor for our cart, which has been expertly assembled by our own Bruce Zoll, Ernie Smith and Chris Williams. Parades will be staging just across the street, so we’re certain to be among the action.
And of course, there’ll be great music for you to saunter in and enjoy both nights this weekend. On Friday, it’ll be Americana act Chris Barron, while blues rocker Greg Nestler and his band take to the stage on Saturday.
We’ll keep regular hours at the Feed Store, so we’re almost certain to run into you sometime this weekend! Learn more about plans for Bohemia Mining Days at bohemiaminingdays.org.
