This growing season the garden plants busted out of the ground magnificently, and if your garden is like ours, so did the weeds! We’ve been weeding around our properties and gardens constantly for the last month!
Not only does a weedy corner of the property look messy, it also leads to some bigger problems. As the sun begins to dry out the foliage, that eyesore pile also becomes a haven for biting and stinging insects, not to mention a fire hazard. So before those weeds get way out of control, we have an effective, organic herbicide for you to try.
We carry horticulture vinegar, which is a non-chemical, natural weed and grass killer. It is every bit as powerful as a traditional herbicide and it literally burns away leaves and fleshy plant parts. It will defoliate blackberries, and if you apply it heavily to the root source, it can even kill the whole, stubborn plant!
This product may not be made with artificial chemicals, but it is still powerful and you should definitely take precautions when using it.
Spraying 101
- Always use skin and eye protection. Even if you’re dealing with organic like horticultural vinegar, don’t let it touch your eyes or skin as it is acidic and will burn you. Acid in the eyes can harm your vision, and hurt like crazy.
- Don’t spray when it’s windy. Overspray can easily get on plants that you don’t want to kill, and this stuff will not discriminate! In fact, if you are near any plant you want to stay safe, you should be very careful, even if the wind is not strong that day.
- Don’t spray in the rain. It will immediately dilute and wash right off, doing nothing.
- Spray on a warmer day when the sun is out. The heat and the sunlight help the product be even more potent.
Come visit us and ask us for advice on how the best way to handle weeds would be for your space — sometime the answer is spray, but sometimes the answer might be to weed by hand. Either way, we’ll be able to guide you in the right direction to achieve control over your yard’s weedy patches.
