Say Goodbye to Powdery Mildew

July 26, 2021 by Coast Fork Blogger

Why is it that every year, about this time a year, a lot of zucchini and squash leaves start getting a powdery tint to them, that eventually takes the whole plants down? What is it with tomatoes that have funky brown spots and roses with blotchy leaves that fall off and leave nothing but thorn-covered branches? What can ruin a whole crop of cannabis in one fell swoop? The answer to all of these questions is fungi, and we have solutions to keep it at bay!

We carry a broad spectrum fungicide called Grower’s Ally. It is especially good at controlling powdery mildew, which is endemic in our area here in the South Willamette Valley. There really isn’t anything you can do ti eliminate it from the environment completely, but Grower’s Ally can keep it from becoming the destructive force that it can be on your harvest. We have also found that this product can be used to effectively control rose black spot disease, and help your tomatoes steer clear of end-rot.

One of the things that we love about Growers Ally is that it is OMRI listed, and its main active ingredient is citrus oil, sourced from citrus trees that are certified organically grown. You’re not going to have any contamination of your harvest with artificial chemicals. In fact, it is safe to harvest the same day that you treat your plants!

A 32 ounce bottle of Grower’s Ally Fungicide will make 20 gallons of final usable product. Plus it never goes bad, so if you’re an average gardener, you will be using from this bottle for a very long time!

We also offer a powdered copper for use after the growing season is over. Treating the soil with copper while the soil is at rest can help control fungus the following growing season. This is especially important for orchards of all kinds, and areas that grow cannabis varieties.

The summer sun and heat may not make you think about fungus, but those cool nights are the perfect time for fungus to start taking hold, so better to treat the plant now before you see evidence of the mildew, and keep your plants happy, healthy, and producing,

Come down to the Feed Store and ask us where to find our display of Grower’s Ally!
