We have received our latest shipment of live ladybugs. They’re here at the feed store just chillin’ out in our bug fridge, waiting for you to take them home and put them to work in your garden!
For folks who might not know why gardeners buy bugs, of all things: Ladybugs are a beneficial insect, and are actually predatory beetles that are extreme hunters! Don’t be scared, though; these ladies hunt other insects… the kind that do damage to your garden plants. Among a ladybug’s favorite feasts are aphids, which are a very common pest here in the Willamette Valley. A single ladybug can chow down thousands of aphids in its lifetime! Ladybugs also kill chinch bugs, asparagus beetle larvae, alfalfa weevils, bean thrips, grape root worm, Colorado potato beetle larvae, spider mites, whiteflies, mealybugs, and many more insects that are out to ruin your harvest.
Ladybugs are an inexpensive, non-toxic, and self-renewing insect control solution, and you can get them right here at the feed store! These little ladies go fast, though, so stop by soon to make sure you get this chance to bring home your own little bug-hunting army!
