It’s definitely spring around here now! This time of year we frequently have folks asking us about raised beds and what kind of soil is best to use to fill them. So here is our answer and some ideas for you:
For soil, we carry an excellent 3 cubic foot bag of organic raised bed mix by Garden and Bloom, and of course, we also have (or will soon have) all of the plants you probably want that would grow well in a raised bed. We also often have 9 foot RowGrow grow tunnels in stock that would work well in longer raised beds.
We do not carry raised bed kits, however very often BiMart will have raised bed kits available and (our neighbors right across the street) and Cascade Home Center has redwood (a wood that is very resistant to decay). Raised beds are not hard to build yourself, and can often be made out of a variety of materials that you might have on hand already!
