Alfalfa is a super high protein hay that is especially great for some lactating livestock. Folks with milk goats often choose alfalfa hay as part of a protein-rich diet for their lactating animals. (Otherwise a good orchard grass hay is great for most other dietary needs.)
We sell compacted bales that are 55 lbs in total weight. It is a good product and easier to handle than traditional, non-compacted bales.
Some folks prefer Timothy hay, another solid feed. Bunny rabbits and rodent pets also love it.
You need to be very careful with alfalfa — many horses cannot tolerate the high protein content of alfalfa and it can lead to a condition called founder or laminitis.
