Coast Fork Feed’s Featured Product of the Week is one of our best sellers: Diamond Lamb and Rice dog food. This product has been a perennial favorite with our customers during our first 11 years in business and with the way it seems to fly out the door, that trend doesn’t look to be changing. In fact, it sells so quickly that we keep it right next to the shop register.
Our customers are used to seeing towering stacks of 40lb bags of Diamond Lamb and Rice and we’re so grateful that you’ve come to rely on us to keep your pet’s favorite food in stock. It’s extremely rare that we run out of this staple product but you might have noticed our supply dwindling once or twice lately and we thought it might be useful to let you know what’s been going on behind the scenes. Rest assured that at the moment we have plenty of Diamond Lamb and Rice available!
Diamond Pet Foods manufactures a large portion of the pet foods we stock, including Diamond Naturals, Taste of the Wild, Diamond Care, and Prey. Did you know they also manufacture Costco’s Kirkland brand dry dog food and all their factories are here in the USA? Lately these products have become so popular that despite having six huge production facilities, they’ve become unable to keep up with the expanded demand. A 7th plant is currently under construction and should solve the issue but is not expected to be on line until the end of this year. In the meantime stores across the country are experiencing occasional shortages of their products.
So what are we doing about this?
We’ve adopted a handful of strategies to mitigate shortages in the Coast Fork Feed Store. We’ve changed our purchasing model in regard to their products to back stock a larger quantity than we usually would and we’ve been utilizing multiple vendors that supply Diamond in the attempt to satisfy our demand and bridge gaps in availability. Recently one of the reps from a huge west coast supplier stopped by and was amazed that we had new product on our shelves because their own warehouse stock was completely depleted. There will still be shortages over the next few months but we’re doing our best to fill in the gaps.
Over the last couple of months we’ve even gotten to meet new people who found us because their usual go-to shop was out of their furry friends’ favorite food. We can’t guarantee that we will always have exactly what you are looking for because we never know what’s going to suddenly become unavailable or for how long, but we’re working extra hard to keep your confidence.
