Yeah, it’s something we get asked from time to time. And to be honest, we haven’t’ seen a real good quality barn rake for sale in a while! Do you know of any place that we could get our hands on one? We are very happy to put in an order for a good quality barn rake and give it a try — if it’s something that holds up to our standards, it might be something we’d keep in stock. Anything that can make the drudgery of mucking stalls better, we’re all for!
It used to be that you could order a good quality barn rake, with nice tight tines, but now a lot of barn rakes and similar stable-cleaning tools are made cheaply and don’t work well. That same cheap manufacturing means that they’re just not made for the wear and tear that they take in a busy barn and fall apart easily. As an effective alternative, we’ve found that using a pitchfork and blunt nose shovel can be a good way to go. We do sometimes have pitchforks and blunt nose shovels in stock, and if we don’t, we do have good sources for nice, well-made tools of that nature.
