COAST FORK CHRONICLES: A DEEPER ‘CHORD’
Arthur Buezo’s Back, and He’s Ready to get ‘Savage!’

Sometimes, it’s a local artist that gets our guests moving. At others, a touring act comes through and lights a fire under our Friday or Saturday evening.
Whether local singer-songwriter or weary road warrior, though, some musicians strike a deeper chord (pun intended) with us when they offer up their art at the Brewstation. They return when their schedule allows and, over time, come to feel more like family.
After several performances here, we feel just this way about Arthur Buezo’s Music, who returns to the Brewstation this Friday, April 30. And when contacted recently during the tour that will bring him our way, Buezo says he feels much the same way about us.
“My first thought was, ‘Brewing and feed store? Can’t get more Oregon than that,” he said. “It’s a gem within the whole country, from my experience. The staff became close friends almost immediately; I always look forward to coming back. Slowly but surely, and Covid willing, more and more people have been showing up and have been supportive of my performance.”
Buezo started out playing flamenco and classical music, genres he still enjoys. Later, he’d be turned on by indie artists like M Ward and Andrew Bird. Relentless travel and the need to earn the tips that make it possible led Buezo to explore a more engaging sound.
“When I got old enough, I train-hopped and hitchhiked around the country, which means I had the case open and played music for money,” he said. “Quiet classical/indie music can’t catch attention as much as playing hard and singing as loud as you can, so I got accustomed to that.”
He’s christened it “savage folk,” the plaintive, gritty, ferocious poetry of a troubadour/one-man-band.
“Expect distortion, expect a rhythm, and if you sing along, we will lose our voices together!” he said.
We can’t wait to sing along, and we hope you’ll join us starting at 6:30 pm on Friday (April 30, 2021) for a free (as always) show.
