COAST FORK CHRONICLES: IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
Be Sure to Be HERE for Bohemia Mining Days
All that feudin’ sure can make you thirsty!
Yes, it’s that time of year again – when Cottage Grove gears up to showcase its best, and the historic Feud that pits Slabtown and Lemati roars to life again during Bohemia Mining Days.
The Festival runs Thursday through Sunday, and while many of the attractions take place at Coiner Park, there’ll be plenty to see, hear and, yes, drink here at Coast Fork.
In fact, on Saturday following the Grand Miner’s Parade, we’ll be hustling back here to open up (by 1 pm, ideally) for thirsty folks excited about participating in the Feud. We’ll be serving as Lemati City Hall again this year, and throughout the day Saturday, we’ll be donating from the sales of our Kizer Creek Kolsch to the Festival.
In true Bohemia spirit, it’s a blonde German ale that’s delightfully thirst-quenching and, at 5 percent alcohol, easily quaffable. We’ll also have fantastic tunes here all weekend. Our favorites and yours, the Huckleberrys, will kick the door open on Friday evening, and Peter Wilde of Eugene fame will take the stage on Saturday with a collection of some of the area’s finest musicians – think a local Traveling Wilburys.
“It’s always a great night,” owner Dale Smith said of Wilde’s visits. “It’s terrific to see such a seasoned musician do what he does best.”
Aside from our activities here, we’ll also be fully participating in many other festival activities, including a float in Saturday’s Grand Miner’s Parade. And we’ll be hosting the Gold Rush 5K, a twilight run/walk, which begins at 8 pm on Friday evening.
“There will also be other fun surprises that people will love,” Smith said, while not revealing too much. “It’s all about evoking memories of our history, so that we don’t forget. We’re also expecting a nice mix of visitors in town for the track meet, and it’ll be great to expand on last year’s fun.”
You heard Dale – Don’t Forget! We’ll see you during BMD festivities this weekend!
